PEDAGOGY

Today was the first time taking Dr. Fox's class. She was so kind that I felt pleasure and learned a lot. At first, she let us pick a colorful card. And began to talk about her PPT, and when it came to an activity, she separated us into 4 groups by our colorful cards. The separating group way was interesting and impressed. We never separate students by this way. Besides, we wrote down our thoughts about Startalk last week and a question about it. I and my group members discussed together to solve problems.

I took Gordon’s class in the afternoon. He shared some teaching skills and had feedback about our learning logs. We also had an activity which was “Fish Bowl”. He picked 4 people to sit in front of class, talking about their best or worst teaching or learning moments with each other. Other classmates observed and recorded their discussion content. I discovered many different ways of solving teaching problems in variety of perspectives.

ENGLISH

I want to shared some interesting English usage. When we passed by the parking lot in Vienna station, there is a board which writes “KISS & RIDE”. I asked my classmate Harriet what’s the meaning. It means it’s a place to provide people to “kiss goodbye” and “pick someone up”. In other words, it’s a zone to park for a moment. I feel it’s really proper and interesting. Furthermore, we were waiting for the Metro Bus. The bus was late, it should come on 10:21 but it have been 10:30 already. We asked a woman next us to make sure the bus. I asked her if the bus was usually late or not, she said “Half, half.” There are similar to Chinese actually. It means almost. So these are what I’ve learned about daily life English.
