PEDAGOGY

Today was the first time taking Dr. Fox's class. She was so kind that I felt pleasure and learned a lot. At first, she let us pick a colorful card. And began to talk about her PPT, and when it came to an activity, she separated us into 4 groups by our colorful cards. The separating group way was interesting and impressed. We never separate students by this way. Besides, we wrote down our thoughts about Startalk last week and a question about it. I and my group members discussed together to solve problems.

TECHNOLOGY

Today we joined the NOVA STARTALK program, and I think it was very interesting to learn so many useful teaching tools. I’ve learned how to create a voice group on “VOXOPOP”, and I could listen to other members’ voices. I think I could set up a group on the website. Each of members could share their experiences about teaching Chinese as a Second Language. For example, we may confront some challenges during the class. Through the group, we could listen to other people’s suggestions or just share their experiences.

How to use paintings in teaching?

Mr. Brown provided a good method: show a painting to students. Let them watch 5 seconds and think about 2 words or phrases about the painting. Use these words and phrases to make a poem.

本週一我們到NOVA的中文夏令營試教，這是我第一次在美國試教，彭老師給我們這組的時間雖然只有短短一節課，但是我們小組的備課時間很長，經過多次討論後，終於要在禮拜一呈現了，大家多少都有點緊張。

 小組備課中
